I was really excited to take on the information about the SSI swim programs, and thought, as an instructor, it would make sense, and a natural progression, to obtain the certification. The idea was to add value, and increase my customer base. The academic components, while interesting, valuable and requiring significant effort to complete, Need to be complemented with the practical components of the course, and should be available for those who wish to achieve the certified levels. It seems, that candidates who live in places far from where there are existing SSI Swim program Instructor Trainers , are at a disadvantage, unless they can travel to a location to complete the practical components of the program. I am all for quality control, and maintaining of standards, but, it is important, when offering programs, that it is possible for genuine candidates to complete the programs (thus becoming certified). Side note - I completed the SSI Swim Teacher program (academic components) over a year ago.
